It feels good to be back home! We went to WA to visit my parents for an early Christmas. I’m so glad to be back at my own house in my own bed! It felt soooo good last night to actually get some sleep!
I’ve been feeling a lot better lately in the morning sickness department. I’m still super tired all the time though. I’m 12 weeks today
Yay! Some sources say 12 weeks is the start of the 2nd trimester and some say that 13 or 14 weeks is the start of the 2nd trimester. My doctor considers 12 weeks to be the start of the 2nd trimester so that’s what I’m going by. I have an appointment on Thursday that I’m really looking forward to. I’m kind of nervous too though. For some reason I’m afraid that there won’t be two babies anymore, even though there is absolutely no reason why there wouldn’t be. I’m just silly I guess. Everyone back home thought I looked huge… and I do.
I’ve gained 7lbs now. Still all belly though! I was reading a new book about twins while I was on the plane, it’s probably the best one that I’ve found so far. It has a huge section on nutrition and how important it is especially for twins, and it actually said I need to be getting at least 3100 calories a day! It’s so hard for me to eat as much as I’m supposed to. I try so hard but I can never manage to eat as much as I’m supposed to each day. I’m going to ask my OB on Thursday to refer me to a nutritionist who has worked with women carrying twins before so I can have help figuring out exactly how much I should be eating every day and what types of things would be best for me. It seems like a no brainer, right? Well let me tell you, healthy food is not big on the calorie department. I haven’t been eating crap and maybe that’s why I can’t seem to pack on the calories. Anyway, there has to be someone in the Dallas area who has worked with women having twins before. I don’t think my insurance will cover something like that but I really don’t care what it costs. I never realized how important nutrition can be when you’re pregnant.
Anyway, I better go get some things done around the house. I hate doing laundry after being out of town. Bleh.

Nothing says PREGNANT! :rawr: like huge prenatal vitamins and an impossible caloric intake.

I def agree that you should see a nutritionist! i am a nutritionist… here are just some suggestions off the top of my head that have some calorie bang! peanut butter is great… especially on top of whole wheat bread, that makes it a complete protein. beans and rice (separately or together) also have GOOD calories and make a complete protein. If you like milk, whole milk is great, even a milkshake with some partially hydrogenated free ice cream would be great! or a smoothie packed with tons of frozen fruits, yogurt, juices, etc. Lean chicken with rice or pasta… fish is great too but only once a week! Nibbles on lots of fruits throughout the day… eat 5-6 times a day, those babies are always hungry! Lots of breads.. whole grains.. pasta… oatmeal… eggs… cheese… sandwiches… salads. Pitas with hummus, lettuce, and other veggies yummy. Lots of water! Hot teas are great too. And prenatal vitamins! Dark chocolate, if you like it, is also somethign thats great to have =) I know this is kind of random, but these are all things that will make a great start!!! I wish you the best of luck!
