We had our 26 week appointment yesterday.
This was the start of my “every two weeks” appointments. This time I was hooked up to the fetal montior for 20 minutes to check the babies heartbeats, contractions, and movement. It was pretty miserable for me actually because they had to have the monitors strapped around me soooo tight. It made it really hard to breathe and I really thought I was going to faint at one point. That and the babies were not liking it either. They are cramped enough as it is and then add three elastic bands around my tummy… they were trying to move out of the way non stop. It was hard to get steady readings but they got enough to determine that everything is fine, as expected. My next appointment is in 2 weeks and I’ll have another ultrasound then.
I also had to have a routine glucose test done to check for diabetes. I’ve heard so many people tell me how awful the drink is that you have to drink but I didn’t think it was bad at all. From what I’ve heard, I was expecting some horrible disgusting drink but it just tasted like flat orange soda. It wasn’t even as sweet as orange soda actually, which I was surprised about because people have told me how sugary and gross it was. Anyway, it’s really not that bad.
My doctor told me that she just recently delivered a set of twins at 24 weeks. I’m at the point now that if I were to deliver tomorrow the twins would have a 97% chance of survival. I don’t imagine I’ll be delivering anytime soon though, which is obviously good. My cervix is still 5 cm long and it should be shorter by now so who knows what will happen in that department. So she informed me that my next “goal” is 30 weeks, then 35 weeks, then after that I’ll probably be begging her to induce me. Twins are considered full term at 37 weeks so she said I probably will not go past 37 weeks because I’ll be so big. My uterus is already measuring the size of a 33 week single pregnancy and I’m only 26 weeks! My hunch is that I will deliver the first week in June (which is only two months away!!!!!!!! ). Ashton will be in Mexico that week…. so it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s when they came. She will be so, so sad if they come when she’s gone so I’m hoping they come the following week… which is when I’ll be 37 weeks along. We have Ashton every weekend in June after she’s back from Mexico and the first weekend in July, then again the 3rd and 4th weekends in July so she’ll be spending a lot of time with the babies either way. She’s so excited, it’s so cute.
She always says “I hope the babies don’t cry as much as my brother does because he gives me a headache every day.” I don’t think she’ll have anything to worry about as far as that goes.
Anyway, I can really feel myself starting to slow down. I’ve actually been able to be really active my whole pregnancy but now I am getting so tired lately. I’m trying to unpack things but I’ll get one box done and be tired and my feet will be swollen and I’ll have to stop. I went to bed at midnight last night, slept till 11:30am, took a 30 minute nap around 2ish, and then a 2 hour nap around 5ish. I’ve just been sooooo tired! And, I’m really tired right now so I think I’m going to grab my hubby and head to bed!

That’s so great that Ashton’s so excited about her sisters being born!! And that’s AWESOME that she gets to be with you all those weekends after they’re born!! That’s such great news to read!
Delivering at 24 weeks.. that would be scary! It sounds like your body’s built to keep em in there, even just based on the cervix, so hopefully, like you said, you deliver them in a couple months — and when Ashton’s home to meet them right away!!
You’ve had a lot of “hunches” regarding this pregnancy, from twins to twin girls.. so you may be right about their birthdates.
You & Preston can celebrate this Mother’s Day and Father’s Day!! aww! =]

i’m enjoying having my energy back, although the growing belly is causing me problems sometimes. like not being able to get back up off the floor. hehe.
my big boss (district manager) at work just had twins at nearly 38 weeks. she weighed maybe 100lbs pre-pregnancy, i was suprised she went so long!!

Boy I hated the monitors… and to have 2 babies cramped in there I could only imagine. I’m so glad that you all are doing so well though.. And I hope they dont pop out when little Ashton isnt around!
