Preston and I have spent some time lately going through his office and trying to get all of our business things in order. We own one LLC currently and will own another soon, so we want to be very organized. Preston isn’t the most organized person, but he’s getting a lot better.

One thing that has been a concern of ours is how to handle business phone calls. Right now, we use Preston’s cell phone as our “business phone” but that’s starting to not be as practical as it once was. We’ve been exploring the options and hadn’t been able to decide if we should get another cell phone and use that as a business phone, or get a separate land line at the house.

I was browsing some websites and found two possible solutions for VoIP service plans. The first one is Virtual Attendant plan. This is ideal if we wanted to have a business phone number that people can call, but the flexibility of having the calls transferred to our current home land line, or one of our cell phones. Callers would have a menu with options to choose what their call is about, similar to when you call most customer support places.

The second option is the Business 2000 plan. This is a VoIP service that is a separate line that would be at our house in our office. I like this option because it’s similar to our home phone line, with features such as voice mail, caller ID, call forwarding, etc.

It’s hard to choose which one would be best, I like them both. With the Virtual Attendant plan you could receive calls even when you’re not in the office unlike with the Business 2000 plan. But, with the Business 2000 plan you have the freedom of not using your personal cell phone to get business calls 24/7, and I’m not entirely sure that we really need to have something as elaborate as the Virtual Attendant plan. We’ll see. Both plans have really great prices too.

This website has a really neat small business phone. It’s got a huge list of features such as speaker phone, just to name one. That would come in handy when we need to have a group conversation. Usually we end up having to repeat to the person not on the phone what the person on the other end is saying and that can get confusing so speaker phone is a must. It’s a really sweet phone. I don’t even know if I would know how to use all the features it has! It would look pretty nice in the office though.

Anyway, check out this website if you or someone you know has been looking for a great deal on a business line.
