Want to know something I suck at? I basically suck at bathing my babies. Yep. I suck at it.
I have watched other people do it and they make it look so easy, but I cannot seem to get it down. You would think that having twins, I would have had the last 4 months times two to get it mastered, but nope. I suck at it times two. It is really difficult to wash a slippery tiny little baby. They’re getting bigger so it’s getting easier and at the same time, harder. When they were tiny little 5lb squirts it was hard to do because I didn’t want to drown them and they seemed so fragile. Now, I still don’t want to drown them and they’re a little more tough, but I still can’t do it good.
Emma is a little easier to bathe then Ava. Emma sits there and smiles, relaxes, and enjoys it. Although, I don’t know how she can enjoy it when I’m so incredibly uncoordinated at it but whatever. Ava on the other hand, she giggles and smiles and kicks her legs and waves her arms. She’s all kinds of excited about getting a bath, which, I don’t blame her. I love taking baths too but come on, enough with the kicking and flailing about. I don’t know how many times both of them knocked their heads on that hard plastic baby tub today. It makes their head and back all red just from sitting in it.
It started out with sponge baths, which were not so bad. I can do that… kinda. Then I just brought them in the shower with me. That was the easiest but the least practical. Then I was filling up the sink and using that. Now, they are getting too big for the bathroom sink so today I tried, again, to use their baby bath. That thing… seriously. What’s the point? It doesn’t make anything any easier. And actually, I just noticed that I’m probably using it wrong. That’s how bad I suck at giving baths. This is the bath that I have for them. I’ve been using it in the bath tub… I don’t know why. It just looked like it just sat in the bath tub…? Looking at that picture, it looks like it’s being used in a sink.
Someone give me some pointers, please. Tell me a good baby bath to use. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but it takes me forever and they slip and slide around and like I said, I basically suck at it.

My boyfriend’s mother bought me a baby bath with a kind of weird sling thing that you can attach and basically wash the baby hands free. I always put Shannah on her stomach and she just plays around while I bathe her. It’s very similar to this but not this one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=6457326
It’s good because you can partially fill it up and then put your baby on the sling inside the tub and wash or play with them without risking them going under or, like you said, hurting their heads on the frame. Also, I think a lot of people make a mistake when they are bathing babies of filling the tub up too much. I only ever fill it up a little bit and that way if she accidentally slips then nothing bad is going to happen.

Sorry, I am not sure how to paste a link into a comment, however for my girls I bought just one of these tubs. It was super cute, their bathroom is decorated in frogs, they can use it when they get older and it was only $15, so I was sold. Anyway this obviously may not work for you but I bathe them seperately. I am not sure if you have spare carseats but I have two that the hospital gave me, so one stays in the bathroom. While I bathe one the other is sitting in the car seat on the bathroom floor. When one is done, I put the other in her robe, and start on the next baby, and then get them ready for bed. I don’t want to even make an attempt to bathe them together until they are able to sit up on their own for that exact reason of I am too scared I am going to drown them. But I always bathe them right before bed, part of a bedtime routine. I will bathe them together when they get older, but for now this works really well for me. Hope it helps!

Aww that’s cute! I also bathe them separate. I’m probably not as bad as it feels like lol but it’s probably pretty funny to watch me fumble around with one of my wet babies!

I swear by the Munchkin Duckie Tub Bath. I’ve given it as a gift to every member of my family and friends who have babies. The kids love it, the parents love it. It’s safe, soft and portable. If you squeeze the bill, it quacks. Sometimes, even when the kids are too big for it, they don’t want to give it up!

A lot of times when my kiddos were babies, I wouldn’t use a baby bath tub at all. You can put a fluffy towel on the bottom of the tub and fill it with about an inch or two of water (no more is needed). They can basically lay on the towel (with your hand behind their head). The towel keeps them from sliding around on a hard, slippery bathtub and it worked fine…
Love ya!

This might sound a little odd, but my family used kitchen sinks….Of course the sink was thoroughly scrubbed beforehand. When we did it, and still do it with cousins/nephews/nieces, theyre old enough to sit up so we dont have to hold them up and well put small toys or kitchen measuring cups in the sink for them to play with. It sounds really weird and kinda stupid, but its always worked for us.

That doesn’t sound odd at all! My mom did the same thing with us and with the grand kids, and my sister did that with her kids too. I think it’s pretty common.
I’m going to have to try that idea Kathy!

I had a baby tub with a mesh insert thing that the baby lays in. This one: here.
I fully recommend it!

my mom used to fill the bathtub up with very little water and put a towel under me so i wouldn’t slide anywhere!

thats good to know! i thought we were the only ones who did it lol.

I have a lot of friends that have this bath

But your babies will be growing out of this type of bath soon so you may want to consider this type

Hope you find something

When mine were smaller, I used a tub similar to the above froggie tub except mine is blue with a yellow duckie mesh sling. I got it at Wal-mart (couldn’t find a pic online unfortunately). The head of the duck is padded, and there are two compartments, one on each side for baby bath and a container of water that comes with the tub to pour over them. The babies loved it, and it’s pretty much a hands free thing. They just lay there while you wash them and rinse them.

i have this one. i love it. it fits well in the kitchen sink & has a sling thing for babies to lay on.
but, i have been super lazy. & just put her on this giant sponge thing.. in the bottom of the bathtub & get in with her. BUT. she is super slippery. so my husband has to help us out. hehe
