I answered two questions tonight. One is an interesting one…
We woke up to an unpleasant surprise today. Direct TV had automatically charged $1498 to our bank account. AWESOME. Preston called to figure out what was going on and it turns out, when we moved we cut our service off because we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to have satellite here at the condo or not. We planned on moving the service to the new address once we found out if they allowed satellites or not, but we weren’t in a big hurry because we are not really TV watchers. I watch House but that’s about the extent of the TV watching going on here. So apparently this huge charge was for non returned equipment. We hadn’t returned it because we planned on hooking it up again this week actually (since House started again this week) and we didn’t really know we were supposed to return it since we had to pay a lot in order to have these HD boxes in the first place. So we are having our service hooked up again on Thursday and they are refunding the entire charge. Which is good, but it will take 2-5 days to be refunded, which is not so good. Oh well, what can ya do? It’s just really irritating.
So my brother is here again for a while. He was here this past March-August and now he’ll be here again until at least May. Preston is training him to take over one of our companies, so he’s spends a lot of time here, which is nice. He’s fun, and a big help. He’s just amazed at how big the girls have gotten. They think he is quite entertaining.
Which reminds me, Amy had asked if Preston was going to be flying commercial passenger planes, and a few others have asked about it before too so I thought I would explain that a little for those who are interested. You all are extremely interested, right?
He’s training to be a professional pilot, more specifically, an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) where he would be a pilot for a major airline. Actually, since I would be awful at explaining this, here is the wonderful and amazing Preston, here to answer all your questions. He’ll be here all night. . .
I want to be an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) and fly as a pilot for a major airline. The steps are as follows:
Private Pilot (flying friends, family, anywhere VFR (where I can see)
Instrument Rating (flying blind)
Commerical Rating (flying for hire)
Multi-Engine Rating (planes with more than one engine)
Optional: Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) (teaching)
Optional: Certified Flight Instrument Instructor (CFII) (teaching instrument)
ATP: Airline Transport Pilot Rating (flying for airlines)Private pilot is what I am currently finishing up and what takes the longest, after that things move pretty quickly!
There you have it. He has his final flight for his private pilots license in the next week provided the weather cooperates! I don’t know about you, but I’m excited!
Sounds way more fun than selling real estate or something boring like that, right?
Anyway I’m tired… I’m going to bed!
