That's like watching a man walk into a bank with a mask and a gun and saying, 'He's probably just there to cash a check'.

flying = awesome

I just looooove being able to hop in the plane and go some where fast! Today we decided to go have dinner with Preston’s parents. Normally this would be an all day thing because it’s a 3 hour drive each direction to drive to his parents house. Well, now that Preston has his pilots license, we can drive to the local airport (10 min drive, no security checks, etc. ) hop in the plane and be at his parents house in 40 minutes each way. It is AWESOME. The only down side is that obviously it cost money to rent a plane, but right now while Preston is in school, he needs to build his cross country hours as part of his next certification and so it’s already paid for.

Flying in a small plane is nothing like flying in an airliner. You don’t have to go through security stuff, check baggage, sit in a squished seat rubbing shoulders with strangers… not to mention the whole feel of the flight is totally different. It’s just so amazing. The babies did great today when we flew to visit Grandma and Papa. Preston and Ashton were in the front and I sat in the back seat with one of the babies in a car seat and one on my lap. They took turns, one got to ride on my lap the way down and the other the way home. They were just in awe looking out the window, they had a blast. There were a couple times when we were descending where their ears hurt a little but other than that they did really well.

In May we are flying up to WA to visit my family for the girls 1st birthday. I can’t wait! Preston will be flying us and normally it’s a huge ordeal to fly up there. We spend a bunch on airline tickets, getting the girls through security was a head ache, waiting at the airport, the flight is uncomfortable and 4 hours non stop. Then when we arrive in Seattle, we have to then drive 6 hours east to get to my parents house! But, with Preston flying we just hop in the plane and fly right into the local airport in my parents town. It will obviously take longer in a small plane but it will be so much fun. Like a road trip but better. So much better. The cost will be less to rent a plane for that time (we can’t use Preston’s school money for that trip) than it would be to buy airline tickets and rent a car to drive. No more spending hours online looking for the best travel deals!

Can you tell I’m lovin’ this husband as a pilot thing? He’s awesome.

    omg sounds like yall had a blast! your kiddos are adorable, getting oh so big! I’ve taken gracie on many plane rides being in the military and all…and I’ve found that when she is sucking on something like a bottle or pacifier(bottle in her case, she’s never used a passy) that her ears never hurt her! unless they do and she takes it like a champ and doesn’t complain but I highly doubt that lol.
    out of curiousity how much is it to rent a plane? like rental, fuel charge, bla bla bla. I was always so curious. my uncle is a pilot and got his hours by transporting little kids on a life flight to hospitals and transporting organs for transplants…he said that was the best cause he felt like he was doing good while still in training. preston should look into it! hed probably enjoy it! and my uncle did it outta texas cause they live in frisco.

    The grandparents are going to LOVE Preston’s pilots liscence!

    That sounds like so much fun. I think I’d be a lot calmer on a private flight, because the pilot can tell you what’s going on, what noises are, etc. I get scared on planes!

    The babies look so cute in the flying photos :-D And Ashton is going to be one pretty girl!

    Haha, YES I CAN TELL. I’m sure I would, too. How awesome that you get to travel around that much and so much quicker than by car.

    Congrats on the awesome hubbie!

    Nicole - That’s actually something Preston has ALWAYS wanted to do! He’ll be looking into it after he has all the certifications that they require.
