I added some new adorable things to the boutique tonight.
My allergies are acting up like crazy the last couple days. My throat is itchy and my nose is all runny and my eyes burn and itch. It’s awful. Last year my allergies were MIA but I’m not so lucky this year.
When it gets really bad, I get into a sneezing fit where I’ll sneeze like 20 times in a row and I just can’t stop! Not last summer but the summer before, I was driving and I started to sneeze so much I couldn’t stop and my eyes were watering so bad! I had to pull over because I couldn’t see. Just thinking about it is making my eyes hurt.
Poo on allergies. (Wow. Can you tell I talk to little babies all day? LOL)

I know this is REALLY gross, but I used to have horrible problems with allergies too, and a few people recommended I get a neti pot. You should check ‘em out. sinucleanse.com makes great ones that you can buy at your local pharmacy. You basically drain your sinuses with warm water + saline solution… It’s AMAZING! I haven’t had problems since I’ve been using it.

Allergies stink. And, I’ve heard wonderful things about the neti pot. However, I cannot use the neti pot, even though I’m “lucky” enough to have pretty bad allergies. I have to constantly struggle to maintain a healthy balance of moisture in my nose - either I’m totally snotty, or my nose is so dry that it’s bleeding. I can’t take prescription allergy meds like Claritin or Allegra because they dry me out too much and cause nosebleeds.
So, here’s the solution for allergies that works for me:
1)Cooler showers (hot showers remove moisture from the body, and for me that means nosebleeds.)
2)For itchy eyes, Naphazoline Hydrochloride/Pheniramine Maleate eyedrops. They’re over the counter and super cheap. Usually they are marketed as “Eye Allergy Relief” drops or something like that.
3)Nasalcrom and nasal saline for my nose. Again, both are OTC and super cheap. Nasalcrom is great for relieving your symptoms, and if the symptoms are not real bad, nasal saline is good for cleaning the dander or whatever out of your nostrils. But I just use a bottle of nasal saline that I can spray in my nostril - not like a neti pot, where the solution goes in and out of your nostril.
In my experience, it takes a lot of trial and error to figure out what works for you and your allergies, especially if (like me) you don’t want to spend oodles of money on visiting allergists and allergy shots and so on. Good luck figuring it out - I know that allergies are very annoying.
