This week I started transitioning the girls from formula to milk. So far so good! Incase you are wondering, their pediatrician told me to wait until they are 13 months old to start milk, since they were 5 weeks early. They are at half formula, half whole organic milk. I don’t buy everything organic, but when it comes to milk and meat, I buy organic when possible. Horizon Organic Milk has whole milk out now with added DHA, but so far I haven’t seen it in our stores. Hopefully one of the grocery stores around here will start to carry it.
I’m happy that we will get rid of our formula bill! Organic milk isn’t cheap but it’s less than formula. I figure that 1 gal will last us 6.5 days at the rate the girls currently drink, so that’s about… $7 every 6.5 days. Not bad! They still have 3 bottles a day but I think the middle of the day bottle can be cut out soon. It’s more for their comfort than because they are hungry, which I tried to avoid, but it happened. Oh well. They need the bottle at their mid day nap to fall asleep. I’m sure that will be a hard one to ween them off of.
And on the topic of babies, CONGRATS to Pam and her Hubby on their new bean!!! They are going to have so much fun!
I miss being pregnant. I think my favorite part of baby shopping was picking out crib bedding and planning the nursery. Those were the days.

lol I knew she was pregnant! Actually, it was just a lucky guess. I just assumed that would be the major BIG news since lately it has been. All you women having kids. It’s craziness! And so adorable.
What does the organic milk that you drink taste like? I’m a whole milk drinker but I wouldn’t mind switching to organic. Is it sweet? I almost bought some at Wal Mart the other night but hesitated because I was afraid I wouldn’t like it.

Wow, I haven’t been reading your posts much lately since I’ve been super busy, but it seems like you have a lot going on right now! With all the family moving stuff and changing to a private blog… I’m glad I stopped in to catch up. I’ll be really sad to see you go private, I’ve been reading since the insydious days and your blog is still my fave! Good luck with whatever you choose to do, though. The girls are getting more and more adorable every day!

Go organic milk! It’s the only milk I’ll drink.

Nicole - Organic milk tastes just about the same, it’s just a cow that hasn’t been injected with steroids & horrible chemicals.
Thanks for the shout out
And yay for Horizon that’s the one I drink!

ooh, i dont know why i didnt think of organic? i was going to add either soy or goats milk into addisons diet in 2+ months.
also, you can request items at the grocery store
. (helps that my husband works at one. heh. but when he managed the dairy department people were able to request stuff)

Awww babies, how fun! Anytime I am buying gifts for a baby shower, I always get either gift cards or onesies. I know a parent can never have too many onesies, and otherwise I like to give the new mama the joy of choosing her clothes or baby items. It’s so much fun to dress up a new baby!
Congratulations on the girls’ transition to milk. I’m glad I’ve found someone else out there who is not rabid organic - I also buy organic meat, and sometimes organic veggies, but I’m not convinced that the world will end if I don’t eat organic.
Oh and by the way, speaking of organic - if you ever make pudding - you know, the little jello packets that you mix with milk - if you make that with vanilla soy milk or organic milk, it is WONDERFUL!
