Random Thoughts On Non-City Living
5:57 pm ~
Filed Under: Life (Or Something Like It)

- I like the fact that it takes about 13 minutes one way to get to the grocery store. It helps me shop smarter and not go out as often for small cravings.

- I’m not really liking the fact that Verizon doesn’t have towers out here yet, so my cell phone doesn’t get very good reception. Maybe I need a cell phone repeater?

- A plus to not having a good cell phone signal - not as many unwanted calls!

- I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many stars before!

- Not living near a mall/craft store/etc. really, really helps me save money. It’s so tempting when you get bored and the nearest mall is less than a 10 minute drive away!

- I love the glimpse of nature that comes with living away from the city. Especially the deer that come up into the field in the mornings.

I could go on and on.

wow. you know, i have always lived out in the country and i have never thought about it like that before. thanks for bringing things into perspective!

Welcome to country living! I love it. These are my reasons:

    - I can sleep quietly. I never hear traffic, dump trucks, or loud bass from peoples’ cars.

    - I see stars! It really is a beautiful thing. All of my New Years have been spent in the country, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

    - I grew up outdoors, so I have a tendency towards camping, hiking, hunting, or any outdoors activites.

I adore where I live. So what if it is an hour North of the city? I live by one Wal Mart, a Target that does not sell groceries, and several normal gas stations. My parents swear to this day they did my brother and I a favor by moving us to the “country/burbs”. Of course, the town I grew up in is now a HUGE town instead of the po-dunk place it was in the early nineties. I love where I live and where I grew up. As an adult who grew up outside, I can thank my parents for making me stay out and enjoy the “wild”. I learned how to entertain myself as well as have fun with my younger brother.

It may just turn out to be a great thing for your family!

you also sound lucky to not have a starbuck addiction..lol

when we bought a house in surprise az it was exciting, first house, also a concrete jungle house like everything out here, stucco cookie cutter subdivision, but it had that feel of being far away and we loved it, now 5+ years later my pretty view out my back window that was a HUGE amazing orange tree orchard (very intoxicating smell i have yet to find reproduced in a potporri/candle/oils form to be the “same” is just more stucco houses as far as you can see, walgreens on the corner south and on the corner north with a cvs in betwen… 2 super walmarts within 15 mins of each other, and 6 starbucks if you count hte ones in the grocery stores that are located on the same street corners as the 2 walgreens. anyway…needless to say..UGH. i grew up in a tiny town in oklahoma and teen years i was screaming to get out and now that im older i want it back :/ i think thats pretty typical for how things work tho lol

I’m a city girl and I admit it… born and raised in the city! But that doesn’t mean it’s always a good thing… I think it’s so good for everyone to get away at least occasionally. There are definitely some good things about cell phones and internet, but there’s also a big downside- that you can never “escape” from work. So I hope that you can enjoy your country life and that the girls will get a real appreciation for nature.

  6. Gem Says:

I’d love to live in the countryside. Everytime I go on holiday we always stay in really remote places and it’s really beautiful and great to not see concrete everywhere. I think when I buy my own place it’ll be in the countryside.

  7. Kayla Says:

sounds like you are really loving it. I have to say that I miss living in the outskirts, I moved to AZ 4 years ago and I am right smack in the middle of things in a busy college town and it never stops. Oh well maybe someday

  8. Jacklyn Says:

All the same reasons I love Montana. lol Kind of the only reasons
