So, when you move out into a little cabin in the middle of a bunch of trees, you’re bound to encounter some bugs. Yesterday I discovered what I thought was a preying mantis on the car, but it turns out it was a preying mantis shell of some sort. I didn’t know they like… shed? Or something? All I know is that it was not alive and it was just an outer crust shell looking thing. At least it didn’t look like THIS! I would have pissed my pants.
Anyway, usually at night after the girls are in bed I work on boutique orders and browse stuff online. Well, my desk lamp attracts a lot of small flying bugs. I don’t even really know how these bugs get inside because we are careful about not leaving the door open more than necessary and things like that, but still there are always bugs flying around my lamp.
So, I bought a venus flytrap. It’s so neat. I just hope I don’t end up killing it. I’m so bad with plants. But, just sitting here typing this blog post I have put 4 bugs into the plant and it’s so fun watching them snap closed on the bug! Ha. What can I say? I’m easily entertained. I do know that these types of plants are notoriously hard to keep alive and healthy but I’m going to give it a shot. It’s looking good so far. Hopefully it’s not possible to overfeed it bugs because there is definitely no shortage of bugs around here!
Now I just need a name for my plant. Yes. A name. I’m silly, I know. I name plants and bugs and little creatures that come around often. And I cry when they die. Ridiculous, I know.
p.s. Are you looking for unlocked cell phones? I’m not, but incase you are, there ya go!

I love Praying Mantii!
I always pick them up when I see them. They’re so cute!
They’re pretty neat though! Where’d you find ‘em? Maybe I’ll go get another. I got my last one at Whole Foods Market, but I haven’t see them there in awhile.
I got a Venus Flytrap last year, and I couldn’t keep it alive

I actually think there’s like a bug shortage because they take some time to absord the entire bug, if I’m not mistaken.

It’s probably a cicada shell. You should look up Wikipedia’s cicada page… they’re fascinating little critters. They “hibernate” for YEARS (I think up to 17 years, for certain species), then they emerge, make a ton of noise, “molt” (which is when they break out of their exoskeleton, because they are growing too large, and they have another exoskeleton beneath) and leave a shell behind.
I’ve read that carnivorous plants can be a good way to control bugs in a house, but I’ve never owned one. I would love too, though… we’ll have to see some pics!
