Ask me

Regular about pages are boring, aren’t they? In addition to having a typical “About Me” page, I decided to have a page where visitors could ask what they want to know instead of me telling them what I think they should know. So go ahead, ask me a question. Of course these questions are moderated, but pretty much anything goes (within reason).

Erin is left to wonder:
I remember reading that you are a pretty vocal Bush supporter, but you haven’t blogged much about the 2008 election so far. What are you thoughts on the republican and democratic candidates?
Without going into a huge amount of detail, I’m happy with McCain being the current republican front runner. I’m torn as far as democratic candidates go… on one hand I think Hilary would be a lot easier for us to beat, but then there’s always the small risk of her actually being elected, in which case I would probably flee the country. I don’t like Obama one bit, he’s too celebrity-ish and inexperienced to be president, but anything is better than Hilary.

Charlotte wonders:
Sarah,

You always seem to be doing cool things, cooking, making crafts, selling stuff on e-bay, for example.

How do manage to find the time to do everything with not only one, but two (sometimes 3) kids?

I dunno, really. I just make it work I guess. I answered a similar recently, basically the girls have been on a good schedule since they came home and that has helped more than anything in making sure it’s not non stop chaos around here. I get time for the things I want to do while they are sleeping or playing with each other.

Jennifer wants to know:
I haven’t had time to read thru the archives so I’m wondering, was your pregnancy with Emma and Ava planned? Also, do you want any more kids? If so when do you want to have more?
Yes, our pregnancy with the girls was planned. Well, we planned for one and got two! We would love to have more kids and we are planning on trying for another very soon. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Kalen is contemplating:
What’s something wild & spontaneous you’ve done?
Hmm…. Well probably going to Vegas with Preston the day after we met… that was pretty wild and spontaneous!

Brittney wonders:
I’m having twins myself this spring and I’m wondering how did you get yours to sleep through the night so soon and so easily? Thanks!
Congrats on your twins!!! We managed to get ours to sleep through the night early on with a consistent schedule and serious self discipline! You have to resist giving in and doing anything it takes to get them to go back to sleep, for example, bringing them into the bed with you every night. I will post a link to some good resources in a blog post soon. That way you can see what we used as a guideline because I’m sure I can’t explain it thoroughly enough. Every baby can sleep through the night - and in their own bed - at an early age, you just have to be willing to sacrifice a few nights of sleep! I’m NO expert though, so I’ll send you those links.

Rhonda wonders:
I admire you for being able to juggle twins so well and still have time for your hobbies. How do you do it?!
Aw thanks! Well, the girls are on a nice flexible schedule so every day I know the general time frames that they will be napping. They take 2-3 naps a day so that gives me about 2-3 hours or so to do other things. Also when they are playing in their jumpers or playing on the ground with each other I have time for other things. At night is when I really get things done though. They go to bed around 8-9pm and sleep until 8-9am so that gives me a lot of time to do whatever I want!

Alyssa is clueless about:
Hey Sarah! I’ve been a reader for years and it’s awesome to see how much life has changed for you! What kind of camera do you use to take your beautiful pictures?
I love hearing from long time readers! Thank you for the compliment on my photos! I use a Canon Digital Rebel XT with a Canon Speedlite 420EX Flash. Hope this helps!

Courtney is pondering:
I adore your hearts tattoo and I was just wondering if it hurt when you got it and also when you were pregnant did it stretch out at all? I am thinking about getting a tattoo in that area as well and I was just wondering if it’s worth it since I plan on having kids hopefully in the near future!
Thanks! I think you mean stars tattoo. I didn’t really think it hurt when I got either of them. Well, of course it didn’t feel really good but it’s a weird kind of hurt. Kind of addicting! Neither of my tattoos stretched when I was pregnant.

Danni wonders:
You probably don’t remember me, but I have been around for years, like when you had insydious. I had sites like apostrophic and biographia. Anyways, I was curious, what does Preston do for a living? BTW, we are almost neighbors now, I live about 30 minutes north of Wichita Falls, TX in rural Oklahoma.
I do remember your sites. Preston is a professional photographer and a web developer. He also does business and web consulting. And right now he’s in training to be a professional pilot.

Kristie is pondering:
I love the names Emma and Ava. How did you feel when you first found out that you were having TWINS?
Thanks! I was completely excited! I had a feeling I was having twins… I had a dream about a week before my first sonogram that I was having twins and ever since that dream I just kind of knew. I wasn’t too surprised when we saw the two little astronauts floating around! That’s exactly what they looked like! See?

Jackie is clueless about:
Are you planning to go back to school eventually?
I haven’t decided yet… perhaps… If so it would be something business management or web development related. But most likely web development.

Kyla is too lazy to google and asks me:
Just wondering if you still have Gus, and if so, how does he get along with the babies?
Yep I still have Gus. He is in the back yard most of the time in the summer so he hasn’t been around them very much yet. He’s very curious about them and gets really hyper around them so I haven’t really let him be around them a lot.

Amy is clueless about:
How did you pick the names Emma and Ava? (I think they’re beautiful names btw! What other names did you guys consider?
Well, we had pretty much picked out the name Charlotte when we were trying to get pregnant and assuming we were having just one! I don’t remember if we really tossed around other names… I’ve loved that name and always wanted to use it and Preston agreed with the choice. After we found out we were having twins, Ava had been a choice of mine after being reminded how pretty the name was from a Nip/Tuck episode! So I suggested Ava, and Preston loved the name and he then suggested Emma and the two fit perfectly together so after that we couldn’t come up with any other names we liked as much so Emma and Ava was it! I picked Claire for Emma’s middle name at the airport after hearing a mother call after her adorable little toddler named Claire. Preston picked Grace for Ava’s middle name because he just liked it.

Charlotte has no idea about:
If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would they be?
Jesus, George W. Bush, and Oprah.

Harry Mudd lies awake at night and wonders:
Star Trek or Star Wars? Playstation or XBox?
Definitely Star Wars and XBox.

Cassie wonders:
Do you miss me?
Of course I do silly! :-P

Erica has no idea about:
In 5 years where do you see yourself (or want to see yourself)?
I always suck at answering these kinds of questions lol! Anyway, in 5 years I see myself with 1 more kid, owning my house, and being successful with my new projects I’m starting.

Sorry, questions are closed for now!
