We are more south east now so I’ve been paying closer attention to the hurricanes this time around than I would normally. I am praying that it won’t be as bad as everyone is expecting. I remember sitting in my apartment in Dallas watching the aftermath of hurricane Katrina unfold, and I can’t imagine what it would be like for something like that to happen again. I really, really, really hope people listen and get the heck out of dodge this time. Who cares if it ends up being not as bad as everyone is preparing for? At least you’ll be alive! I have watched some videos and read some articles of people saying they are not leaving New Orleans and other coastal cities. Those will be the same people struggling to survive and cursing the government if things really do end up that bad again. I do worry about the poor, elderly, homeless… I hope these people are taking the opportunity to hop on a bus to a safer place.
We’ll see what happens. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as it’s looking like it could be…
The town we are in is super full right now. Hotels here and in all the neighboring places are full, and I’ve never seen this many cars on the highway here before. That’s a good sign that people are taking this seriously. We will probably end up with rain and storms at most. Maybe some high winds?
I have a head ache really bad. The same kind I get right before we get really bad stormy weather. Ugh.
So, when you move out into a little cabin in the middle of a bunch of trees, you’re bound to encounter some bugs. Yesterday I discovered what I thought was a preying mantis on the car, but it turns out it was a preying mantis shell of some sort. I didn’t know they like… shed? Or something? All I know is that it was not alive and it was just an outer crust shell looking thing. At least it didn’t look like THIS! I would have pissed my pants.
Anyway, usually at night after the girls are in bed I work on boutique orders and browse stuff online. Well, my desk lamp attracts a lot of small flying bugs. I don’t even really know how these bugs get inside because we are careful about not leaving the door open more than necessary and things like that, but still there are always bugs flying around my lamp.
So, I bought a venus flytrap. It’s so neat. I just hope I don’t end up killing it. I’m so bad with plants. But, just sitting here typing this blog post I have put 4 bugs into the plant and it’s so fun watching them snap closed on the bug! Ha. What can I say? I’m easily entertained. I do know that these types of plants are notoriously hard to keep alive and healthy but I’m going to give it a shot. It’s looking good so far. Hopefully it’s not possible to overfeed it bugs because there is definitely no shortage of bugs around here!
Now I just need a name for my plant. Yes. A name. I’m silly, I know. I name plants and bugs and little creatures that come around often. And I cry when they die. Ridiculous, I know.
p.s. Are you looking for unlocked cell phones? I’m not, but incase you are, there ya go!
I finally posted an update here! So go read, mmmmmk.
Today, I thought I might just throw the TV out the window. The girls were screaming and so I was trying to put a DVD in for them to watch and relax because they are anti-naps lately. Well here I have two screaming babies and the stupid TV keeps saying “No HDMI Signal Detected”. So I’m like what the heck does that mean?! So I’m fiddling around with the darn thing (yes I just said fiddling) and I guess one of the girls pulled the HDMI connection thing out at one point. But seriously. Talk about stressing me out. I hate when stuff just doesn’t work and the girls are going ballistic. I can’t focus on trying to figure out what an HDMI cable even is when I have the girls competing for who can scream the loudest.
I need a nap myself.
It’s been raining all day and I love it. I’ve missed the rain. Maybe fall is finally on it’s way?
On the topic of fall, I have so many cute ideas for Halloween costumes. I just have to get to making them. Some might not work out for this Halloween… I’m not sure I’ll get them made in time. They are pretty elaborate. I can’t tell you just yet what they are…
I’ll give you a hint… you child could wear it for Halloween… or it would be appropriate on one of those fun Disney cruises. They each involve lots and lots of tulle and ribbon. Hehe…
Are there any other mommies that come here that just love Gymboree stuff? I happen to adore Gymboree, as well as Baby Gap. I would buy every single thing of theirs if I could. Anyway, Gymboree launched a new line today and it’s SO CUTE. Seriously. I mean just look:

I love the brown! I can’t wait until the girls are old enough to justify buying clothes that cute (and expensive). Right now all they do is play all day, usually at home, so there’s not much point in spending so much on clothes when I’m usually the only one who gets to bask in their adorableness (with the exception of family and trips to the store). This is a lesson I have learned. Don’t spend so much money on baby clothes. They already have way too many clothes than they could ever possibly wear.
Ava is getting her first molar! Awwww. It’s so cute! It wasn’t there last night when I brushed her teeth but it’s really coming through today. No wonder she has been so bratty today! Poor thing. It looks really painful.
She’s been fussy and overall bratty all day today… it makes me wish I was back in one of those nice quiet las vegas hotels. Seriously though, I would probably be fussy and bratty if I had a big ‘ol molar coming in too!
Not much new to talk about. I will answer more emails on 3 Trees next week. If I missed you it was most likely an accident. There’s nothing new over there yet so don’t worry, you aren’t missing out on anything quiet yet!
I’ve been busy working on items for my boutique today while Preston was gone visiting Ashton. Hey so yah, if you’ve purchased something from me can you please leave a comment in the guest book? Only a few people have left comments in there, no where near the number of orders I’ve had! So pretty please go write a little comment? Thanks!
Ohhh…. I’m working on a toddler Halloween costume this weekend… it’s SO CUTE. Seriously.
- I like the fact that it takes about 13 minutes one way to get to the grocery store. It helps me shop smarter and not go out as often for small cravings.
- I’m not really liking the fact that Verizon doesn’t have towers out here yet, so my cell phone doesn’t get very good reception. Maybe I need a cell phone repeater?
- A plus to not having a good cell phone signal - not as many unwanted calls!
- I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many stars before!
- Not living near a mall/craft store/etc. really, really helps me save money. It’s so tempting when you get bored and the nearest mall is less than a 10 minute drive away!
- I love the glimpse of nature that comes with living away from the city. Especially the deer that come up into the field in the mornings.
I could go on and on.
I’m sooooooooo ready for fall. I can’t wait to wear jeans, sweatshirts, SHOES. I don’t even know when the last time was I actually put shoes on. I’m also looking forward to attending high school football games, watching the leaves change colors, and being able to go outside without getting instantly sticky from the humidity. I think fall is probably my most favorite season. Fall and spring. I like the happy mediums.
It will also be much more pleasant to build when the weather cools down. I don’t expect we’ll start until September. It’s just too hot right now. I’m so excited. I can’t wait to do the inside stuff where we can pick out everything for each room from the flooring to light fixtures.
So, if fall could hurry up and get here, that would be nice.
