Preston has told me on more than one occasion not to apologize for what I believe in. And I agree, no one should apologize for what they truly believe in.
But sometimes I do feel like I should apologize for how I talk about what I believe in. It’s come to my attention after reading dooce.com that I have possibly done exactly what she has done - and that is offend many loyal blog readers.
Politics brings out anger and frustration in people when they passionately believe in something, and especially when they feel that someone else has gotten it so completely wrong. Sometimes I get so incredibly frustrated at people (and this is not just in politics) and seriously give myself a headache trying to understand how the hell people can really, honestly, seriously believe some of the stuff that comes out of their mouths (and the mouths of others).
I have made some generalizations about liberals/democrats/people out of pure frustration and I would like to sincerely apologize if I have offended some of you with the way I delivered a thought. The truth is, most of the time I get pissed about something and then sit down and type out whatever I’m thinking and I’ve usually not taken the time to think through the best way to say what I want to say. I just go off on a rant. That’s what I do. Just be thankful you don’t have to hear me actually speak!
I am really a very nice person. I’ve always prided myself on being open minded and listening to all sides of something before forming an opinion. I’ve always been the type to look things up and check facts, etc. I’ve had a blog since 1999. I’ve always been used to my blog being a place where I can just let it all out and not give a rip what people think. Well, with having a blog for nearly 10 years (seriously… like… what the heck… 10 years) I’ve gotten many many many devoted readers and made a lot of friends along the way. I would hate to ruin friendships with people and turn off readers because I decided to just bitch and complain about something before thinking out a non-offensive way to get something off my chest.
So. I’m sorry if my way of delivering something has offended you. I am mature enough to look back at something I’ve done and realize that I made a mistake and I’m woman enough to apologize for it.
I’m not, however, sorry for believing what I believe in and standing by the things that I truly think are right. I hope that I can have political discussions with ‘yall in the future in a respectable manner. It’s my promise to you that I will do my best to be respectful in delivering my opinions, and I hope that you will do the same.
Sarah Palin was so incredible last night, about the only thing the left wing media can dig up is that she used a speechwriter. Big freaking deal! So does Obama. *GASP*
Next please…
p.s. You now have to be registered and logged in to comment. If you have something legitimate worth saying, I’m sure you’ll have no problem with this. K thx. And p.s.s. I DO approve ALL comments that are posted here, unless they are personal attacks against me. ie. You’re a bitch! Because, we all know I’m a bitch, right, so why does it need to be posted in the comments 5 million times? Ha ha ha… that was a joke…
I want to take a moment and make some clarifications.
1. My post about abortion and Sarah Palin’s daughter being pregnant had absolutely nothing to do with Anna’s post on aflux.net about Sarah Palin. I don’t go to Anna’s site, ever. It is on my links page, but I visit very few personal blogs anymore because I simply don’t have enough time to go around and check up on everyone and what they are saying. The only reason I knew she dissected my post is because I saw the referral in my tracker.
2. Do I know that Obama would encourage his daughter to get an abortion? No, of course I don’t know what he would do for sure. My point was that it would be safe to say it would be a highly considered option. I realize in the video clip I posted that he wasn’t even talking about abortion. I used the clip to demonstrate his opinion that an unwanted baby is punishment.
3. Do I think that all liberals are “baby killers”? No. Absolutely not. I’m sure plenty of liberals would not choose themselves to have an abortion. However, it makes no sense to me to SUPPORT the “baby killers” and say “well I wouldn’t do it personally, but if someone else wants to that’s okay with me”. That teaches people that killing unborn babies is okay and acceptable. No one has yet to answer me when life beings by the way…
4. Do I think all liberals are stupid? No. I don’t think all liberals are stupid and it wasn’t my intention to portray that. I’m truly sorry if anyone here assumed I was calling them stupid, and thus, got offended.
5. I realize that my post about abortion was on the extreme side. I am known by those who actually know me in “real life” to be fairly extreme when I’m frustrated with something that I feel is completely ridiculous. A lot of times, I don’t see the point in typing out a nicely sugar coated blog post about something when in the end, it doesn’t really make a difference anyway. I could have said the same things but more “nice” and it would have been taken the same way.
6. Don’t you think it’s funny how democrats say republicans do this and that, and republicans say democrats do this and that, and actually we just all do it? We all try to make the other party look bad. If you are into politics, you cannot deny this. Both sides are guilty of trying to make the other side look worse. Both parties are guilty of getting the “facts” wrong often. That’s just how it is.
Now, really, unfortunately I’m living in a small space right now so my computer desk and my “bow making” desk are the same desk. My computer is right here where I work. So, it’s pretty tempting to stray from my work and approve and respond to comments. But seriously, I have several things that need to get done while the girls are napping so I’m officially done talking about this for now. Feel free to comment, but I’m not going to respond. Not because you have “defeated” me with your amazingly awesome points, but because I seriously just have work to do.
Apparently a couple people think this post was in response to another post by another blogger, and I just want to say that the timing was a coincidence. Probably because this is a popular topic right now. Either way, this was posted in reaction to mainstream liberal new sites and what they are saying about Sarah Palin and her daughter. NOT to some other very small stream bloggers post. K? Thnx.
Okay so Sarah Palin’s 17 year old daughter is pregnant. And? So… what’s your point? Oh yah, that makes Sarah Palin a hypocrite right? Her daughter made a mistake by having sex. All of us make mistakes. Parents, as much as they try, cannot control their teenagers 100%. But you know what? The Palin family is doing the right thing. They are supporting her 100%. Her daughter is of course going to have the baby, and accept responsibility for her actions.
Now, if it were Obama’s daughter, we all know based on his voting record and the statements he’s made (don’t take my word for it, go look it up) that he wouldn’t want one of his daughters to be “punished with a baby” so I’m sure she would be skipping off to the abortion clinic by now. Wouldn’t want to ruin Daddy’s image. Since when did babies go from blessings to punishments?
Oh wait, I forgot. Babies are only blessings if you want them. Otherwise, just partially birth them, stick a knife in their neck, and rip their spinal cord out. Problem solved, right? Well if that fails, just leave them in a dumpster or something to die.
EDIT: I know that you silly liberals would like to say that my facts are wrong on this one, but Obama’s record speaks for its self. I never, EVER said that abortion was the topic he was speaking on in that video clip of him. So please, if you are going to try to call me out, at least get YOUR facts straight. And believe it or not, the ripping out of spinal cords has been used in late term abortion (where do I get this from? My high schools health class video). Yes, obviously that was an extreme and brutal example but a factual example at that. I am aware that that is not the standard practice of partial birth abortion. Just simply cutting the spinal cord seems to be enough. Forget the ripping out of it, as if just cutting it is somehow not as bad. I’m sorry to be so graphic and blunt about it. Next time I’ll try to fluff it up a little and add a cherry on top like you liberals do, to try and take away from what’s actually going on here.
Again, don’t take my word for it. I trust that people would be smart enough to check up on these things on their own instead of taking the word of ANY source of media. But then again… if you support Obama… your level of “smartness” is already pretty low.
Alright, go ahead, I’ll open comments. But please, while you proceed to tell me how awesome Obama is and how I’m so wrong and how SOME forms of abortion are ok, please answer me this:
When does life begin? How can you say that you agree that abortion is okay, but late term abortion isn’t ok? ABORTION IS ABORTION. It is a life, a person, a BEATING HEART. Until what point does it become not okay to take another life? 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks…. when? When in your screwed up liberal minds does that tiny helpless baby go from all of a sudden not being a life (although it has a beating heart) to being a life and then, well darn it, okay now we won’t murder it.
I have been avoiding talking about politics for some time now because to be honest, I don’t have the energy for arguments at the moment. I get way too into politics if I let myself and so for my sanity, I have been avoiding discussing those sorts of things online.
However, I am going to dip my toes in a little and say that I am pleasantly surprised at McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin for his running mate. I didn’t expect him to pick a woman (I don’t know why… I Just didn’t), but I think it’s a good decision that will help us win the election. I think throwing a respectable woman into the mix will really stir things up and hopefully get some of the ridiculous, undeserving hype off of Obama. I’m really praying that people will start to fall off the popular Obama bandwagon and start seeing who he really is and what his “plans” really are.
I know I have said previously that I wouldn’t vote for a woman as president, but I think that was said prematurely on my part at the horrific thought that Hillary Clinton could have possibly been president. Seriously, for me, the thought of her as president is a nightmare. A woman as vice president is not so bad. I think it really just depends on the woman. I don’t know much about Sarah Palin but I will continue to read up on her.
Either way, it’s history in the making. We’ll either end up with the first black president or the first female vice president. And before anyone jumps on me for speaking about a persons race or gender, by specifying that Obama is black and Palin is a woman, I’m not in any way trying to be racist or sexist.
Now please, know that this is my blog, my place to post my thoughts and if you have something to say in regards to this post, I beg you to please say it in a respectable way. We can all be adults here. And if you can’t, then please just leave. I don’t have the energy or desire to fight with anyone. Discussion is one thing, getting personal and throwing hatefulness and insults around is another. I respect the views and opinions of others, no matter how skewed I think they are. I just ask you to respect me the same.
And besides, arguing stresses me out and stress has been known to give me acne and I really don’t want any acne if I’m going to win a spot on the hot blogger calendar. Yah, right!
